Only the 1st column was available for me to select after I selected the 4th column of leaves. The same problem occurred if I tried to select the 2nd column of trophies first (only the 3rd column of leaves was available to select).

It should work with all the cases you presented. (and I hope all the others too).
The problem of course are the jokers.
There still can be some strange cases in which could be needed to follow a selection order.
The alternative is to ask to players to select the dice to use but that is less intuitive.
